Overview

The United Kingdom — and London in particular — remains one of the world's great cities for ambitious remote workers and digital nomads. London is a global hub for finance, tech, media, and culture, with an extraordinary mix of world-class museums, restaurants, parks, and networking opportunities. For those less drawn to the capital, cities like Edinburgh, Manchester, and Bristol offer strong quality of life at significantly lower costs. The UK's internet infrastructure is excellent, English is of course the native language, and the country's time zone makes collaboration with both Europe and the East Coast of North America manageable. The main challenges are cost and, since Brexit, visa complexity for non-UK/Irish nationals. A Freelancer and Global Talent Visa exist for skilled workers, but the UK is no longer as easy to access for EU nationals as it once was. For those who can navigate the visa landscape, the UK remains an outstanding base.
